Hi Guys,
I currently am running 3 ESX 3.5 hosts on IBM blades with 2 Quad Core 1.8CPU's with 16GB ram
They are connected through Fibre to a San running SAS drives with a raid 5 config for the storage.
I have 2 2008 terminal servers that are delivering an application that accesses data on both a SQL 2005 server as well as a network Share
which is on a vm file server. The SQL has it's data on the San as well but is a physical machine.
The Termianl Servers are configured with 1 Vcpu and 3 GB of ram, 1 of them is running with CPU affinity set on 2 cores and the other has no affinity.
They both have a CPU reservation of 1ghz and 1024 mb of Ram
I haven't noticed a difference with or without the cpu affinity set
The application is being pushed through remote apps and i'm using remote profiles that are on the vm file server.
My issue is that the Perfomance monitor on the Virtual Center shows high CPU usage with only on average 5-15 users on each server
Users are complaing about performance and application freezing at times.
I really don't want to gice a second cpu if I don't have to, my next test is to run a 2008 server on it's own blade with a singe quad core 1.8 cpu and 4 gig of ram
Does anyone have any thoughts or similar experiences?
I also have 2 2003 terminal servers with 1 cpu and 2 gigs of ram that are also performing poorly with 10-20 users on them
Thanks ahead of time
