Is this required to be installed if I want to use the Virtual Server Virtual Appliance????

I don't want to install if I don't need it --- we do plan to use the VSVA pointing to our vCenter Server according to these instructions:

    Thank you, Tom

The vSphere Web Client is optional.  The improvements in the web client have come quite a long way in vSphere5.  You cannot do all of your administration using it, but it may be useful to folks that don't need to fat client but require access to their guests.

Ohhhhhh...if I install this into the vCenter Server VM it's the same idea as having a vCenter virtual appliance web frontend but it points directly to the vCenter server instead of at any separate appliance??

If I install this into vCenter one can go to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and do stuff like the old web client allowed us to do -- start/stop, console, etc.?? -- it means I don't have to install the VCVA?? (I've had trouble with it, I can't get it registered to our existing vCenter Server, it won't register, issues with ssl etc.).

    Thank you, Tom

there's nothing to really install per say.. You're just enabling the web UI.  You still need to install vCenter either way.  All the webclient is, is a different way to view and somewhat manage your vCenter inventory. But, a lot better than it used to be.

below are some screenshots and what looks to be a good walk through on "installation" of the web UI

The Web Client is great when you have Linux admins that need to work on their particular VM but not necessarily the entire infrastructure (which would require the features of the full client), since the Web Client will work natively in Linux.

I would like to hope that one day **fingers crossed** that the Web Client will be able to do everything the Vi Client can.

Then I would be able to p*** off the fat and slow Vi Client, and as previously mentioned, perform all tasks from a Linux Workstation natively.

    Hi,

vCenter websphere client is an option feature provided by VMware. Its not related to  Virtual Server Virtual appliance installation.

Use of the The Web client is an another interface for your vCenter and you will able to see  your  whole Virtual environment. It will not be that much important but its very easy to install and configure.
