Is there a way to increase the time the host saves the Performance Chart information? When I go to chart options, the Time and From options are disabled.

Yes, If you are using vCenter, go to Home and under Administration select vCenter Server Settings.  There is a statistics section in there that you can customize to your hearts delight :smileyhappy:

In other words you will have to pay for this feature, you can't use it with vSphere Client :smileyangry:...

I believe so. I think the host itself only collects realtime stats and stores them in a flat file. It’s vCenter that does the archiving and rolling up processes.

You could look at some other options. Veeam has a free edition of their Veeam Monitor that I believe allows for a few hosts or something like that that will archive the stats for you…

Thanks I'll check Veeam out. Also I'm wondering if vMA could retrieve log info from the host...

The vMA can get the syslog information, but as for performance logs I don’t think so. You can capture esxtop data from it using resxtop, but it’s probably not what you are looking for. I think the free Veeam stuff might be the way to go… ☺
