  • 1.  vSphere client displays datastore path information incorrectly

    Hi There,

I have a problem where the vSphere (ESX4.1) client displays datastore path information differently depending on where you drill into.

For example  if I go to Home>Inventory>Hosts and Clusters>Select a host>configuration tab>storage>select LUN7>properties>manage paths button,  I see what I believe to be the correct information (2 active paths to LUN7).

If I go to Home>Inventory>datastores>Select LUN7>properties>manage paths button, I see 2 dead paths to LUN38.  The LUN was mapped as LUN38 prior to re-mapping it as LUN7.

This is only happening with a LUN that I have remapped.

I can access all VMs on that LUN, and can browse it without issue.  It seems that the datastore view is not updating correctly despite me refreshing and rescanning many times.  The status of the LUN is 'Normal'.

I have just updated all hosts with the latest patches to no avail.

    Has anyone seen this issue?

    Any help appreciated!!

Well... it seems that if I wait a day, vCentre finally refreshes correctly and the information becomes consistent.

what happens when you do a "rescan" ? Normally this would force vCenter/ESXi to sync/do a reinventory.
