VSphere 4 SAN attached - B2B Credit issue with physical raw disks

    Hello guys,

we are running two SAN attached ESX hosts with many physical raw disks. This is necessary, because of the VMs need to execute SCSI commands.

We are also running several ESX hosts with VMFS and these hosts have no problem with B2B Credits.

We are facing many buffer credits zero on all SAN ports of that particular ESX hosts with many phyiscal raw disks. We already checked the SAN and all the other devices - this can also be not hardware issue, because of all 8 SAN ports which are connected to these ESX hosts have the same problem.

My idea about that is - that all VMs are sending / receiving small frames on the fibre channel HBAs so that all buffers are used. We are using RR policy for all VMs to spread the load overall HBAs.

The question is now: Is it possible to configure the amount of the send / receive buffers (for SAN - not for Ethernet !!!) anywhere in VSphere 4 ESX?

I know that i can increase the queue depth, but i guess VMware does not increase the send and receive buffers with this setting?

    Thanks and Regards
