    Please explain the licensing rules.
I need 3 compute hosts (each 2 cpu) and 2 vSan hosts (each 1 cpu) and have it all managed by one copy vCenter.
Do I need vSphere licenses for vSan hosts?

What types of licenses do I need for such an infrastructure?

    1. 8x vSphere ESXi
    2. 1x vCenter Standard (unlimited mang. Hosts)
    3. 2x vSAN

Yes you normaly need vSphere ESXi for vSAN nodes because your VMs runs on top.

    but... some notes

    1. a 2 node vSAN is very special... are you sure about that 2 node vsan cluster?
    2. two independent clusters right?
    3. are all 5 node located on the same location? i ask because RoBo licensing exists

    some hints

    1. HCI kits exists
    2. vSphere Desktop exits and contains vSphere ESXI/vCenter + vSAN but only for VDI workloads
