    Good Afternoon,

I'm currently running ESX 4.0 Update 1 on 4 ESX hosts in an HA cluster, connected to a backend SAN/NAS device.

I have exactly the same configuration at a DR site, and in the event of a disaster, I break the Storage mirrors and then present the NFS mount points to the ESX hosts in the DR site.  Whole setup works a dream.

This weekend, I'm upgrading our Production Site to ESX 4.0 Update 2 due to a bug in the current version.  My only concern is that once I do the upgrade the DR site will not be running the same version of ESX.  In the event that I needed to switch to DR before I can get the DR site upgraded would this cause me an issue??

    Many thanks

    Goose

I don't foresee an issue, unless the bug you speak of is impacting your DR site as well.  After all it's still 4.x.

    Thanks Troy,

No the bug is not happening at our DR site.

Basically we upgraded our production environment to HP  DL580 G7 servers about 6 weeks ago, and intermittently we will lose on the ESX hosts.

Checked the VMkernel logs and it appears to be the following error message causing the problem:

    WARNING: LinNet: netdev_watchdog: NETDEV

Apparantly update 2 should resolve this.

at somepoint you should mirror build numbers at both your production and DR site, but short term you should be fine.
