    Hi All,

I just installed 2 new ESXi 5.1 host and VCenter 5.1 as well as update manager.

How can I tell Update manager only download patch, extension for ESXi5.1 not for older version?

    At the moment, when I modify/create a baseline, I can only see esx4.0, 4.1, not 5.x

    Thanks.

Please see what's marked for download in the Admin View of Update Manager (Configuration -> Patch Download Sources).

Don't the patches show up in the Repository when you enter 5.1 in the search box?

    Thanks for your reply ap.

I cannot find the location you mentioned.

Please see attached image, which one you prefer to?

    Thanks.

From the screenshots it looks like the configuration is ok. The download location for version 4 and 5 patches is the same (that's why you cannot download just v5 patches). The patches for ESXi 5 should actually show up as "embeddedESX 5.x"!?

    Thanks ap,

After hitting download, I could see embeddedESX 5.x in baseline criteria now. So WUM will download all version 4 and 5 or just 5 only if I select embeddedESX 5.x only?

It will download all patch definitions for both versions, but only the patch files for the patches you require to remediate the host with your baseline.
