Well i hope someone can help me out here as this problem couldn't be resolved by VMWARE itself.
I'm having a Virtual Desktop Environment running on VMWARE View 5.1 with Vsphere 5.1 also all esxi Servers are 5.1.
The problem i've faced was regarding HP Scanjet 1000 which is a USB powered Scanner. Everything on View End was fine, detection of scanner installation inside the environment but once you try to scan the scanner wouldn't scan and would just give an ADF error.
So I tried everything opened a case with VMWARE and according to the logs all was clear in the logs regarding USB redirections and it should be working fine as per VMWARe but it wasn;t. Anyways what i did was export the Master Image into my vmware workstation 10 and try to connect it there. Results were the same. Out of the blue i just upgraded the vmware tools on the workstation for this particular VM and this resolved the issue the scanner started working properly. So i check the VMWARE Tools version its 9.6 in the workstation my esxi vmware tools version was 9.0.
So finally i again imported the VM from the workstation to the ESXi and recomposed a test pool to check well its working fine with the new vmware tools from the workstation 10.
I check the latest version of tools for ESXi and it turns out its 9.4 only and tried to test it on this version but the scanner doesn't work.
Is there any problem in using the vmware workstation 10 tools in ESXi environment? And what major features will i lose with that??
