VMWare Tools Download - 'screening required'

Sign on to VMWare.   Go to download for VMWare tools.   Click on the cloud button

and it says 'screening required'.   What is that?    How do I get screened?

This was answered a while ago with a claim that VMware cannot be provided to anybody. That is theoretically right, for instance, according to International Laws, Russians do not have even new computers where to run ANY version of VMware - legally they are in the Stone Age with 386 computers.

As such and however, the above doesn't mean a thing. Workstation Pro can be downloaded "from anywhere" and I do not believe they do any screening of the Downloader. With VPN it can be faked anyway since they do not have any User Screening, which Broadcom has.

So, the talk about Screening, is quite unnecessary with Workstation Pro, but it explains why Broadcom itself MUST do that. It is not just Workstation Pro, which is available for Broadcom Users.

Strange, did a search on the community for 'screening required'.   Must of missed the item buried in the search results.   Answer was to check the box to allow one to proceed with the download.

Since we have been talking about this Forum in general terms quite a bit ...

... it just hit me: This Forum is missing a feature that "every other Forum has": Sticking posts.

The matters about Upgrade and Download, have been asked about one million times during the last months. Still the answer is simple. With sticking posts "How to Upgrade", "Where is the Download", would perhaps lower the count to half a million times.

The answers could be rather informative, if you do them once. Generally speaking and in short, the answers are "you never upgrade", "you can Download it from anywhere, just google it".

Of course, how to do nested virtualization and why doesn't it work on my AMD with Win 11, could be added - if somebody really knows the answers to those.

Why it has to be screening required ..why is not Agree our terms and conditions to continue with the download ????????

From what I've heard from Broadcom, user account screening is required as part of export compliance. It appears to be something their legal department has mandated. 

Account screening for export compliance is not the same as having to review the terms and conditions before downloading the product.

Muahaha..what are you talking about, no one use 386 computers...and Russia is not in stone age...if they have their own seach engine Yandex  and their facebook variant they are not in stone age...in some case they even surpass the West, like China...

Also Vmware is not something new or unique, there is a lot of alternatives even under Linux...

We do not live in 80-90ies

Yeah, at least you have to pretend that you read the terms and conditions by clicking and showing the T&C page before clicking the check box that indicates you read and agree to the terms. 

I've found:

• The portal seems to remember that you checked the box for a specfic version of the software. If you go back and want to download that version again, you don't get presented with the checkbox.
• If you choose another version to download, you have to go through the same process. You'll be presented with the "accept terms" check box again. And you'll have to click to show/read the terms again before the portal will allow you to check the box to say that you accept the terms. 

This download screening process is clunky at best. You can tell that Broadcom doesn't really know how to deal with no-cost software and make it easy for non-corporate users.
