    Running ESXi 5.1 in a HA with 5 blades. All has been fine for years but in the last month we have one ESXi server that appears to work, but when any VM is restarted, they no long have a network connection, like the virtual cable is unplugged. This is "easily" resolved the migrating to another ESXi server which reconnects the VM, then migrating it back to the original ESXi. Then the VMs work great until the next reboot.

    I have tried changing the NICs, building new ones, using e1000, VMXNET3, etc but the same behavior persists.  Everything else with the ESXi server seems normal. Comparing the configuration to the others it is the same.

    Any suggestions?

    *Note - I cannot upgrade to a newer version. There is a separate issue with the Single Sign On module in our environment that always fails any install.
