  • 1.  vmotion VM with RDM failure

    I am experiencing a problem in that I cannot vmotion/migrate a vm with RDMs. Other VMs with RDM's can vmotion but I have a problem with one VM. The error is:

    Incompatible device

    backing specified for device

    '33'.

    Copying Virtual Machine configuration

    Does the VM have a CD-ROM drive attached?

    There is no CD-ROM attached

    Check the compatibility mode and refer the below article for more information.

    Are you trying to move it to another host or another host and datastore?  What compatibility mode is your RDM physical or virtual?
