  • 1.  VM Version CPU utilization

    Hi,

    I have a question regarding the use that a virtual machine can have on the CPU resource of a host.

    Is there any information regarding differences in CPU resource usage of exactly the same virtual machine but with different version of virtual machines (eg, VM Version 13 vs VM version 17) ?

    It should make little, or even no difference.

    Upgrading a VM from one version to the next should by itself make no difference other than make it possible to add further resources to a VM.

    For example going from v14 to v15 changes the maximum allowed number of logical processor in the VM from 128 to 256. Unless you actually make such a core count change to the VM, simply upgrading the virtual hardware won't automatically increase the VMs demand on the hosts' resources.
