    Hi,

    I am running a vsphere 4 updat 1 environment.

Recently, I tried to shutdown a virtual machine (which is a clone machine) but it stuck at 95%.When I opened its console from vcenter server it showed following error

"Unable to connect to the MKS:Error connecting to /vmfs/volumes/....../MachineName.vmx because the vmx is not started.."

I restarted mgmt and vpxa services on ESX server, hosting the VM.After executing the command VM turned off successfully. However, status of VM is shown "invalid" in vCenter. When I try to turn it on , a dialogue box pops up showing

"The operation is not allowed in the current state"

    Regards

Try removing the host from the cluster and add it back again. If that is not helping how about reconfiguring the HA agent on that host. I don't this HA has anytthing to do with this but just give it a shot.

    Thanks

You could also attempt to remove the VM from inventory and then adding it back in.
