We have an environment that has 30 hosts and 430 Virtual Servers and the VIM_VCDB database size is over 300GB. We also cannot view historic performance for our Vm's - Performance Data is not available.

    1. Is it me or does the database size seem quite a bit high for this environment? How do I downsize it?

    2. How do I get performance history for my VM's to work?

    thanks

    Hello.

Check out kb 1000125 for info on cleaning up the database.

Have you ever had performance data, or is this something new?

    Good Luck!

KB 1000125 is useful. However take a local backup of DB from SQL and purge the stats.

There are known issues reported in vCenter U1 where stats rollup job (specifically the daily job) will continuously run and increase the transaction log history. Note, this issue occurs only with vCenter U1 under specific environments.
