I'm running vcenter and esxi versions 7.03 - one VCSA and 3 hosts. I just noticed my VCSA hardware version is 10 (vmware 5.5). I don't anticipate any problems based on the feature list, but I was surprised. I've been running vmware since 5.0, but I created the current vcsa new when we upgraded to 6.5 because I had vcenter on a windows server up through 6.0.

Shouldn't my vcsa be at least at hardware version 13 (6.5), since that was the vsphere version when I installed it, or is the vcsa stuck at 5.5?

Hardware version 10 is compatible with VMs running on ESXi 7.0u3.

I guess you upgrade the hardware version and plan for it.

Thanks. My question was more out of curiosity, since I don't expect to need any of the features that come with the newer versions. It just seems odd that my VCSA didn't have the default hardware compatibility version, which would have been 13 at the time that I installed it new.

    Anyway, no worries. Thanks.

Some customers run management clusters which are a different version than the vCenter Server itself, that is why you will see a lower version, as it provides backwards compatibility, nothing to worry about!
