    hi experts,

i am doing vCenter installation without dns record on DNS server.I set the vcenter IP to system name under host /etc/hosts.

but the installation seems be running into problem with following errors.

==========VCSA Deployment Progress Report==========     Task: Install required RPMs for the appliance.(SUCCEEDED 100/100)    - Task has completed successfully.     Task: Run firstboot scripts.(FAILED 0/100)   - Starting VMware Appliance

Configuration...         Error: The supplied System Name vcenterbalabala is not valid.         Resolution: If the supplied system name is a FQDN, then make sure the DNS forward lookup results in at least one valid IP

address in the system. If the supplied system name is an IP address, then it should be one of the valid IP address(es) in the system

so should this workaround is invalid? i should setup dns record for vCenter on DNS server correctly first?

    Thanks

    Allen

Correct, you'll want the DNS entries configured beforehand. I've tried work-arounds, such as modifying the localhost file on the management PC that I'm deploying a VC from, that didn't work (at least not for me).
