  • 1.  vCenter Chargeback Config Maximums

Does anyone know of any configuration maximums in vCenter Chargeback. Planning an install at the moment and need a hierachy to support 400-500 child folders and 3000 Virtual Machines.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks,

    Tom (DSG)

    Hi,

For CB 1.5/1.6, the following are the configuration maximums.

    Core Metrics

    CB 1.5/1.6

    1. Number of VC servers in a system

    33

    1. Number of VCs per DC

    5

    1. Number of VM/entities per DC

    15000

    1. Number of VMs/entities in a system

    20000

    1. Number of VMs/entities per Hierarchy

    1000

    1. Number of Hierarchies in a system

    5000

    1. Number of concurrent users in a system

    5

    1. Number of vApps created in single day

    12

    Thanks Hemanth,

I was wondering, you noted that the total number of entities in a hierachy is 1000. This seems low. Our environment has 2500 VMs, does this mean we will need multiple hierachies to support it?

    Regards,

    Tom

    Hi

CB 1.5/1.6 supported maximum number of VMs per hierarchy is 1000. You need to create multiple hierarchies to go more than 1000 VMs per hierarchy. We are working on improving this numbers in the coming release.

Does Chargeback 2.5 increase the number of VMs in a hierarchy?

    Hi bec111,

The maximum # of VMs in a hierarchy for Chargeback 2.x is still 1000.  In fact, for the most part, most of the above maximums listed in this post still apply, excexpt the total # of VMs/entities in a Chargeback System has been raised from 20000 to 35000.
