I am launching the holodeck instance for a VCF 9 deployment. My options are online or offline depot. i only have a trial subscription to VCF 9. I cannot generate download tokens with trials. Any ideas how i can make the holodeck work without a download token?

If you have access to download the VCF binaries from the broadcom support portal, you can download them manually and set up your offline depot manually and then use Holodeck with it.

You can use the following docs:

If you want to use a pre-built offline depot, you can set it up using: https://vmware.github.io/Holodeck/offline_depot/

If you want to build it on your own, there are a few ways you can do it, one of them outlined here: https://williamlam.com/2025/06/vcf-9-0-offline-depot-using-synology.html

https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/401497 - This link gives you a way to download all the binaries manually from the Broadcom Support Portal.

https://vmware.github.io/Holodeck/offline_depot/ - This link gives you a way to set up your offline depot appliance.

Then you can manually move the files (scp or any other copy mechanism) from where you downloaded the binaries to the offline depot.

https://williamlam.com/2025/06/vcf-9-0-offline-depot-using-synology.html - This link provides the folder structure in the offline depot which you can manually create and match and place all the binaries in that way.

Having a download token simplifies a lot of this. But if you need to do it without it, you need to build it out manually.

I was able to use the link you posted for ideas.

Created an offline depot on an ubuntu vm using the following guide:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYeS8UPMn7o

Had to disable the https check also in the above video.

    I was able to proceed.
