  • 1.  Unable to see all VMs in VMs & Templates console view

    Posted Oct 12, 2010 10:04 AM

I'm unable to see all the VMs I manage through the VMs & Templates console view but I can see everything fine in the Hosts & Clusters console view.

I have a feeling it's something to do with permissions.

    Anyone know?

I'm not the admin so I have just been delegated permission to manage a subset of VMs.

    Cheers.

    Jon,

There are two sets of hierarchal permissions, each is defined in their respective view. Even though you may be able to see everything in Hosts and Clusters, you may not have access to view everything in the folders shown in VMs and Templates.

It sounds like whoever setup your account did it wrong in one of two ways:

    1. forgot to remove your permissions in Hosts and Clusters

    2. didn't add permissions to some folders in the VMs and Templates view.
