There are two ESXi hosts and both had three datastores in the storage list but now in one host can see only one datstore and in the other host both the datstores are intact. It was working fine from one year but suddenly disappeared. In the events log it gives the below error.

The iSCSI initiator could not establish a network connection to the target.

    Kindly assist.

    Thank you.

The iSCSI initiator could not establish a network connection to the target.

From the host, you are seeing this message, could you confirm if the iscsi target is reachable by doing a rescan and check, if the luns have been extended on the second host and worst case, check if any vmkernel is port binded to this lun

I tried rescan and refresh and all the luns are present in storage adapter but not listed in the storage list of datastores.?

As the link says, disable the iSCSI port binding. There is no port available in that location. So its already disabled.

Any other possible reason why this is happening?

    Thanks.

Normally after doing a re scan,if the iscsi is configured correctly,it should resolve the issue.

But here as you are not able to,after doing the same,I think your iscsi configuration is creating the issue.

Check your wwn and other settings from bios.Go to through the below link for further assistance.

Hope this will resolve the issue.

Chap issue has resolved as you mentioned, Please reset the connection:

    1) Disable iscsi (before note the initiator and target details).

    2) Remove iscsi adapter (if its ESXi 5)

    3) Add it back.

    4) Give all the required details and rescan.

Hope it should correct your configuration file...mostly its looks the configuration issue.

select host where connection is not established go to Configuration-> Storage Adapters-> software iSCSI Adapter  then click on rescan to scan all the available iSCSI targets.

If this not work,  check your host iSCSI WWN and compare it with WWN in your storage allowed list.
