  • 1.  Unable to delete VMs after nested ESXi hosts deleted

Hi all, I deleted a few nested ESXi 6.5 hosts but forgot to delete the VMs hosted on these ESXi hosts prior to that. As such, I have now a bunch of VMs with the disconnected status for which the Delete from Disk option is greyed out. May I know what is the best way to safely remove these VMs? Thanks in advance.

If you delete already nested ESXi hosts on which VM was running - VM should not be listed.

or VM is visible in vCenter inventory?

Unfortunately with the nested hosts already deleted, the VMs are still listed in inventory

Do you see other options, like remove from inventory, etc.?

Nope, the usual options are all missing

    Hi Ferdinando

You are absolutely correct about the scenario I'm currently facing.

If I were to simply remove the "Not responding" host from the vCenter inventory, do the VM files get removed as well, or do I have to go into the datastore and remove them individually?

    Thanks

    Hi

Thanks, I guess that's what I would need to do then.

    Thanks all who replied.

    Cheers
