  • 1.  Unable to convert Windows Server 2008 machine

    Posted Nov 19, 2013 05:25 PM

I have checked all of these forums, yet the solutions are not helping me in this instant. I am somewhat new to Vmware, I can get around to perform most standard tasks. I am attempting my first conversion of a physical machine to a virtual. When I attempt to let the agent deploy it tells me it is unable to connect to the network share "XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX\ADMIN$".

I have enabled file sharing, I have run net share and the share is active. Is there anything else that I could be missing?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum

You need to connect to the source machine as administrator or disable UAC. Also you need to configure or disable the firewall.

Alternatively - you can install converter agent manually on the source.

I had all the options u also mentioned turned off or disabled. I instead installed the agent locally and ran it, the conversion is working now. I have another server to convert later this week, I'll give it another shot.

    Thanks!
