  • 1.  UI shows configuration not set, no matter how well it works

    Posted Jun 10, 2009 02:16 PM
    I have created a server to access Websphere embedded queues and it is standalone java and not related. It is running and happy. Its output (presently) is a log that is parsed by a perl script and the results are pumped into hyperic. This is all good. The plugin is attached.

    The problem is that the server configured in the UI does not recognize that it has been configured and cannot get its own availability. The SERVICES in the UI are working and show themselves as being available. It reads the queues but not the queue server availability.

    It may be something obvious... to someone else :-)

    Thanks
    BJ

    I should also note that it accepts the configuration I put in. It gives NO error messages here or in any logs I have seen. It simply never seems to notice that the configuration has been completed.

    Looking in wrong place. Server has logs too... This is in one of them.

    Of course, it doesn't follow that this is the problem. Is "help" required in the plugin?

    Too many <p> subtags? Those are from the example?... Right, didn't need them really.

    Now we have a structure -

    <plugin>
    <server>
    <service/>
    <service/>
    <service/>
    </server>
    <help/>
    </plugin>

    The plugin does not have a name Attribute. The Server has the name WASQueueMonitor as it should. The error message implies that it is looking for a plugin name. Maybe the error message is misworded??? The system as a whole works to monitor the services and claims that the server is not configured.

    OK With <help> in both the server and the plugin, and the help at the plugin level named I am still getting this annoying error in the server log claiming that the plugin name is not there when it tries to get <help> .... it shows up only when I attempt to configure and it appears to be blocking the configuration from being registered in the DB.

    Not correctable because plugin has no name attribute.

    I think this is a bug. Not a BIG bug, but it is annoyingly apparent to a customer.

    OK... gave the plugin a defined name. I was wrong of course, it CAN be named. Still get the same error. I still reckon this is "help" getting in the way of a DB update.
