I plan on upgrading my VM's to Windows 8.  From what I read MS requires UEFI boot format.  I have also read that 6 has some functionality built in now.  I can find stuff on switching the host over to the new format, but I am looking for something for the VM's

When I create a new VM does it automatically detect the type

What line the in VMX tells me what format it is in

Is there a way to switch it, outside of manually editing the vmx

         What are the pre reqs?

    Thanks in advance

Windows still supports both legacy BIOS and UEFI boot... You can choose which you'd rather use.

I've put together some fairly comprehensive notes on using EFI/UEFI: Using EFI/UEFI firmware in a VMware Virtual Machine

Let me know if you have any more questions that aren't answered in that document.

    Cheers,
