    Hello Forum,

    I have a question,

I have a 4.1 ESXi host connecting to an iSCSI shared storage backend by software iscsi. I have two vmkernel ports and two 10-gig physical nics, should I enable EtherChannel for the two physical nics (they are connected to the same physical switch) or would I not do this in an iscsi configuration? I know that if I do, I have to change the nic teaming load balancing. I am just not sure with an iscsi setup, if this best practices.

From the switch to the storage etherchannel is NOT enabled as it was suggested not to enable this on the storage side by the vendor (Equallogic PS 6000).

    Thanks.

It will all depend on how many iSCSI targets you have - if you only have a single target by the nature of the IP hash you will only use a single port so I would not add the complexity to the environment -

Do not use Etherchannel on Equallogic.

Follow the guide that you find on Equallogic site on which could be the best configuration for vSphere.

In your case follow the 1:1 mapping instruction.
