    2009 Dec 18 20:07:49 vswews01a %KERN-1-SYSTEM_MSG: Dropping received frames from duplicate VSM saddr (0x1010000) - kernel

showing up in my nexus 1000v switch log.

Also getting occasional missed pings and hangs on my ssh connection to vms on this switch.

    Any ideas?

This error message will occur when you don't have your uplinks channeled correctly.

If you're using multiple uplinks to the physical switch with the 1000v, then you need to ensure you Port channel all links connecting to the same upstream switch. Even with vPC-HM, you still need to port channel multple uplinks connecting to the same switch. This needs to happen with each VEM host.

Paste your System Uplink port profile and give an idea of the topology and we'll see if we can find the issue.

I think I've found out the problem and it is the port configuration on the upstream switch.

I have 2+ uplink ports per VEM and the upstream switch had configured these as trunks for the required vlans but I am reading that I will also need to set them up as ether channel or vPC-HM ports
