    hello all

i love the approach the vSan goes.

i build something for myself. i couldnt find any answer

all videos and information which i have seen speak only about ssh with spinning harddisk

but that configuration i dont want

right now i got one m.2 with 256 gb (i intent to use it as esx OS drive), and i want raid controller (PCIe) with SSD or much better a pcie based board with m.2 modules on it (max 4). depends on the storage needs.

is that config possible - i mean - do i need an old fassion spinning disk ?

    thx for answer

    Hi,

I'm not a VSAN expert, but your question basically resolves to "can I create an all-flash VSAN" config.

    Sure you can.

    See for example:

Unfortunately, the only way you can use vSAN with hardware RAID controller is passing all the drives as single RAID0 arrays which is not completely great, especially in a two-node scenario. There are various similar VSAN solutions like StarWind VSAN that is capable of working on top of hardware RAID (RAID5/6 would be excellent for All-Flash approach) and gives you both - redundancy and data locality within each host plus resiliency at host level (fault domain).
