  • 1.  SNMP traps from vCenter

    This is my first post.  :smileyhappy:

    It seems that vCenter may not have sent this trap:

    1. esx.problem.vmsyslogd.storage.failure

    error

    VC

    1. esx.problem.vmsyslogd.storage.failure|Logging to storage has failed. Logs are no longer being stored locally on this host.
      Since 5.0 Reference

    How can I check if a trap was sent?

    Where can I configure which traps are sent or not, or is vCenter sending out any/all traps at all times?

    SNMP traps will be triggered normallt by an alarm. So check for any alarm was generated.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I should have included that:

    a)  We do have SNMP traps configured and verified (we have been using the SNMP alerts for some time).   (re: reply #1).

    b)  The alarm was triggered from 3 Hosts.     (re: reply #2).

    c)  Our SNMP server/listener does not seem to have received this specific trap. 

    Thus I sought some help to understand my problem.  I was trying to confirm: that vCenter "should" have sent the trap.  In this case I need to confirm it was received by the SNMP server and somehow "lost".

    Would there be a log of the sent SNMP traps somewhere?
