  • 1.  Several GB RAM 'missing' on Resource Allocation tab

    Hello, I'm running ESXi 5 (623860) with free license.  My mobo is SuperMicro X8ST3-F (unsupported).  It has 10GB RAM installed, and Configuration->Hardware->Memory shows

    Total                                      10231.1 MB

    System                                  48.0 MB

    Virtual Machines               10183.0 MB

    But the Resource Allocation shows

    Total Capacity:                    7805 MB

    Reserved Capacity:           0 MB

    Available Capacity:            7805 MB

    Is there anything I can do to figure out what is going on with the missing RAM?  Thank you.

    I went to the Advanced view of System Resource Allocation as suggested in the discussion you pointed to.  The 'system' entry had 0MB reserved, but it looks like the other entries' reservations could add up to what's missing.  Still, over 20% of my RAM effectively consumed by the hypervisor seems like an awful lot.
