SAS HBA firmware

Hello:

In the knowledge base article: 1027206 is written:

"Note:
The functionality of the above step is limited to certain Physical Adapter Types/Sets only (Qlogic, lpfc etc)."

I have tried to obtain the firmware version for a SAS HBA card and I obtain a version that is different of the version I can see in the post of the server.

I have experienced the same issue with different servers and SAS HBA cards.

Do the SAS HBA cards support this functionality?

To helpkl with the Firmware search, can you please indicate the make, model and type of the HBA, including the P/N or FRU.
The actual FRU of the HBA
This HBA is part of a server brand such as Lenovo, Dell, HPE and more. ?
Can you indicate the VID, DID, SVID, SDID of the HBA.

The card in vm-support is detected as:

This firmware version 16.00.11.00 is not the real version.

When we reboot server or enter in iDRAC to upgrade firmware,  the real version shown is 16.17.01.00.

 

 

My question is if vm-support should show the real firmware version or not?

From what you say, the HBA would already have the latest Firmware.

Firmware Package Version 16.17.01.00 includes:
Core Firmware Version : 16.00.11.00
BIOS version : 8.37.02.00
UEFI Driver Version :18.00.03.00

using the IDRAC we see the version of the installed firmware package

Maybe it would be good to update the rest of the Dell Server Firmware (UEFI, IDRAC and more).

Now it makes sense.

Some firmware packages match with the core firmware version, but not all of them.
