  • 1.  Restoring a VM from Iperius backup

    Hello --

I am experimenting with Iperius Backup Full as a solution for backing up our ESXi virtual machines. According to the documentation and e-mail that I received

    from support:

There is no restore feature for ESXi in Iperius since the restore is very easy and fast. Simply use the vSphere Client to upload the VM folder

created by Iperius into the datastore. Then, right click on the .vmx file and on “Add to inventory”. The VM is now added to the list and you

    can start it.

I checked the vSphere client, but I do not readily see the means to do aforementioned process. Is there a plugin that I need to install to accomplish this task?

If so, were can I get it?

    Thanks.

Hi, do you mean this tutorial? http://www.iperiusbackup.net/en/backup-esxi-and-vsphere-free-hypervisor/

Iperius Backup creates a folder containing all the virtual machine files. You can upload this folder back to the ESXi datastore, using the VMware vSphere Client.

Here is a video that shows you how to upload the VM folder to the datastore: Upload to Datastore - VMware ESXi 4.1 - YouTube

If the folder already exists, rename it before the upload (if the VM is running, you've to stop it first).

After you uploaded the folder containing the virtual machine files, enter that folder, right click on the *.vmx file and then on "Add to Inventory". See the image below:

    Hope this helps

    Bye
