    Hi i'm looking to buy a pcix scsi raid controller card thats compatible with esxi 4.1 and i will get cim monitoring on the esxi health tab.my current dell prec4 doesn't support esxi 4.1 so i'm looking to replace it with a better card so i can get montioring and will have same raid options and the perc4 and other features and good price as well. anyone could you please let me know which cards are right for me.

    It may be a better investment to look at a SAS/SATA controller because of the cost (and age) of ultra-320 drives. If it's in a 2850 or similar, maybe consider changing the whole machine to an early 2950 for example.

    The PERC5 could be fine...

    But as written in the previous post, consider to change the entire system...

    New Rx10 series have more cores, more memory (and more faster) and require less supplies power.

    i would like to buy a new system but i don't have enough money for one. the poweredge 2850 does the job for me all i need ultra scsi raid controller with cim monitoring for esxi.anys recommendations will be great just i simply can't afford a 2950 at the moment
