    Hello!

    We have a VM thats about 6 years old and it was running on a really old version of VMware workstation. Well That machine died and we need to convert it to run on our V-sphere cluster now.

    We were able to get the files off of the drive, however VMware converter doesnt even recognize the format because its so old. The converter wants a VMX fie while the VM only has a CFG file.

    How can I convert this to run on our ESX boxes?

    Heres the first 3 lines of the config.

    #!/usr/bin/vmware

    config.version = "6"

    virtualHW.version = 2

    What else would be useful?

    at the very least I need to know if you have a plain-disk or a cow-disk.

    Post directory listing including size and post the vmdks - in case you have small ones that can be posted.

    Did you try my suggestion with

    virtualHW.allowVeryOldVersion = "TRUE" already ?
