  • 1.  Querying CIM installations in ESXi

    Hi

I am looking to obtain some info on the CIMs installed on a few different ESXi 5.0 hosts.  I am able to query the VIB status using esxcli "software vib list" but cannot find the CIM alternative.

On ESX i would normally run ps -ef | grep "hp" or "ibm" to see if any vendor specific services were running in the SC but cant don so in ESXi....

    Can anyone help?

    thanks

    Kerms

On ESXi, you can run ps -cPt | grep -i hp or ibm.

However, you can also list the vibs in ESXi using esxcli software vib list | grep -i hp or ibm.

I am wondering why esxcli is not showing for you...

    Hi

    thanks for your reply

esxcli does list the VIBs installed on my host but it only appears to show VMWare VIBs and no third party VIBs.  That command does not appear to show CIM infomartion as i know I have the Emulex One Command CIM installed and running on this host

ps - CPT works but doesnt show me anything in regards to IBM on this host; it must have IBM CIMs installed as i can see items in the hardware status tab that I cant see on another host that doesnt have the CIM installed....

There is an IBM folder on this host but i cant find any evidence of any installed CIMS...it must be possible to find out by issuing a command!

    Any help would be great

    thanks

Or possible that the vib has not been installed, or failed during installation or installed but need reboot to be in effect.

Can you look at the esxupdate.log to confirm the vib entries of the vib and the status against it?

My bad, I did look at my server and  I am able to locate these files which generate some information about the CIMs. Can you let me know, if these address your query?

    /usr/bin/cimslp

    /usr/bin/cim-diagnostic.sh | grep -i hp or ibm

    enum_instances
