  • 1.  Put VMs inside VMkernel Port Group

    Hi,

    Networking for VMware Administrators syas:

"You cannot put VMs inside of this port group because it is made specifically for a VMkernel port."

However, i'm using ESXi 5.5 and is able to put normal VM interface inside the vmk port group. (I only created 1 vmk port group so all the VMs all in the same group with the vmkernel interface)

May I know if this is a new feature or something goes wrong?

    Thanks!

Are you talking about Standard or Distributed Virtual Switches?

Please post a screenshot which shows this configuration. With Standard Switches you need separate port groups for VMkernel and VM traffic. These port groups however, can be created on the same vSwitch.

This can only be possible with distributed switches not with standard switches.
