    Hi Everyone,

    Good Morning!

I am newbie to VMware. I am using Vmware Vsphere 4.0 ESXi on a server having two physical NIC adapter. I am confused with a scenario in networking that it like below:

    1. I want to install a Windows Operating System on a virtual machine having two NIC adapter. the purpose of this machine would be to serve as a proxy server. So I need to both Physical NIC so that my one NIC can be connected to my internal network and other should be connected to ISP Network.

But I am unable to make it happen because of networking concepts in Vmware.

I would really be grateful to you, if you can guide me in resolving this problem.

    Regards

    Sanjay Gupta

    Hi Depping!

    Thanks for your reply.

I am attaching a screenshot of networking configuration I made as per your guideline. Can you please just check it.

Further if I add a virtual machine having two virtual NIC (each belonging to different port group label) then would it be able to solve my purpose.

    Regards

My understanding here is that you have a host with two physical NICs, one is connected to the outside world (internet) and the other is connection to your internal network... is this correct?

If so - you will need to configure two vSwitches on your host, then create a vm port group in each switch.  Attach the pNIC to the internet to one vswitch and your internal pNIC to the other vSwitch.

On your proxy guest, add two vNIC's, put one on the external port group and the other on the internal port group.

    Hope this helps.
