    Hello Team,

I am new to VMware from the administrative side, and will open a ticket with VMware but I wanted to start with the community first.

I recently added 2 new volumes to our datastore and everything checked out and came back green. For some reason whenever we migrate a vm to the new datastores we are getting an error saying that disk consolidation is needed. Now if we spin up a new vm on that datastore we have no problem. With the research that I have done this seems to happen if there is a snap shot but when I look at the snapshot manager there is nothing there for the vms. What am I missing? I feel like I am over looking something.

    Thank you,

    Greg

Please, instead of look to snapshot manager, provide a list of files inside the folder of the datastore where VM is running and/or click edit settings of the virtual machine and looks if the virtual hard disk is pointing to something like 00000x.vmdk.

If you found the 00000x.vmdk, is possible that you are running from snapshot and you can committing them using the approach found here: Committing snapshots when there are no snapshot entries in the Snapshot Manager (1002310) | VMware KB

Thank you, that looks like the problem. Just wondering do we know what cause this?
