    Hello all,

I managed to virtualise and run a Windows 7 physical system from a defective PC panel on a new one. The new panel runs VMWare Workstation Pro 7.5 on Windows 11. The system consists basically on an HMI. The operators used the touchscreen and sort of a pen to input values by means of an on-screen keyboard on the old PC panel.

On the new PC panel, although it is still possible to use the guest's on-screen keyboard, typing on it from the touchscreen gives bad results: missing or repeated key strokes, which makes it barely usable. Host's on-screen keyboard works fine, but operators are used to the ease of use of the old panel and complain about the inconvenience of popping the keyboard up from the host and its size. Plus they found it much easier and convenient to use the HMI's pop-up on-screen keyboards.

I've tried to disable 3D acceleration, mouse compatibility for games, different hardware compatibilities, reducing the processor count and all sorts of combinations for grabbing keyboard and mouse inputs, but the problem persists. I must mention that the guest screen resolution is bigger than the host's.

Have any of you experienced such problems with a touchscreen and a virtualised system?  Is there any way to make the guest's on-screen keyboard run smoothly along with the tou
