How are you logged on to the source machine? local or domain admin?

It is recommended that you log onto the source machine as local admin and install the VMware Converter application locally. Then try and run the conversion.

Please be aware that the latest version of VMware Converter can be downloaded from http://www.vmware.com/download/converter/ - Since many issues have been resolved in this release, as a first step, please download & install it.

Can you then provide us with the following information regarding your issue:

(*) What version of converter are you using (Build / License / Host OS)?

(*) What is the source machine you are converting?

    >> Operating System

    >> Physical / Virtual or Image (e.g. Norton Ghost)

(*) What is the target for the VM clone (Standalone / ESX / VC / SAN or Host VMFS)

(*) If you are converting a physical machine what is the:

    >> Disk Configuration (Basic / Dynamic)

    >> RAID

    >> Any hidden support partitions?

(*) Please run msinfo32 (Windows) from in the source machine and save the output as a .NFO file

(*) Attempt the conversion once again but take a screenshot of every step you take, including any error messages, and put them in a word document.

(*) Please send me a screen shot of the screen disk management screen

(*) Please extract the logs from Converter

Please attach the documents requested. Please do not paste them.

There are a couple of steps you will have to take in order for the converter to go through

    1) You will have to break the mirror on your C: drive. VMware Converter will fail because of that mirror.

    2) You will also have to unmount the drive (filer-pluton) you have mounted.

After you have done this, try and run VMware Converter again.
