Hi, I hope this doesn't sounds too easy especially for the expert guys. I've downloaded a trial version of ESX and immediately created a vm with 2012 R2, felt that kind of slow, forgot to add additional processor to the vm. My question is, what is the number of "virtual sockets" which I left to "1" and added additional cores since that's the one I'm familiar. So I made it to Quad Core since I put in "4" for cores.

    Thanks

    Jeff

shouldn't make any difference in this case, if you configure 1 virtual sockets and 4 cores on that, or 2 virtual sockets and 2 cores per socket or 4 virtual sockets and 1 core per socket.

ultimately your VM will be getting 4 vCPUs.

what's your host configuration by the way? i mean number of sockets and cores in your host?
