Hello friends, I'm taking a new project, the client has 16 physical servers, virtualize them all he wants. In the project, will be installed VMware ESXi hosts 5 in 03, license vSphere Essentials Plus Kit, I will configure HA, VMotion and Data Protection (Backup VMS)

Hosts are Dell R620 model with 32GB RAM each, an EqualLogic iSCSI Storage with 2TB of free disk capacity.

I asked four network adapters on each host, and then create the following networks:

    Storage
    VMotion
    Mmanagement
    LAN for VMS

Asked plates 10Gb iSCSI hosts to communicate with the Storage, but the client thinks is too expensive and wants to leave the SAN with 1Gb cards right, only I fear that the performance of virtual machines is compromised, I believe that the faster Storage for communication with the hosts, will be more performant.

    What do you think?

What about the process of P2V, VMware Converter converts physical machines and allows me to choose which host each machine will be stored, even if the HA cluster environment has already been set?

    Thank you!

What are the workloads on the 16 physical servers - if the disk I/O  is not that great you might be fine with 1 GB iSCSi network -

VMware Converter should work fine - there will be no impact on whether HA is configured or not -

In fact be no more than 10 servers, some with Windows 2000 Server, other Windows Server 2003.

The IOPS rate is below this table, the storage to be used in the project is the EqualLogic PS iSCSI 4100, with the 10K disks

    Thanks !
