Networking Issue - How to troubleshoot?

I'm spanning traffic to vmnic0. vmnic0 is the uplink to vswitch named PortMirror. There is a port group called PortMirrorGroup on PortMirror that I have a virtual interface for a linux system associated with on the switch.

From monitoring the host I can see 80+ mbps traffic hitting vmnic0. I don't see any of that traffic getting through to the nic on this machine.

The switch is in promisc mode.

Shouldn't I see something with pktcap-uw on that switchport? How else do I troubleshoot traffic not coming across the vswitch??

Did you configure the vLAN 999 on the Switch side? What about IP configuration in the VM? is it pinging the DW or not and whats the error. May be you troubleshoot these points.
