  • 1.  Network best practice for ESX

We have recently installed a new VMware ESX server.
And configured the management and the v-motion networks on a dedicated v-switch connected to 2 physical adapters.(both active)
The VMware server is also connected to a storage via iscsi, and as for the ISCSI network, we created 2 different v-switches and connected each one to a separate physical network adapter.
And I want to know :
What is the beast practice for such scenario ?
If we have only 2 X 10 G physical NICS ,can we mix between 1g and 10G card in a way that the 10G will be the active interface and the 1 G will be the standby

    Thanks !

An active/standby configuration is ok for Management, LAN, and vMotion, but usually not for a storage network.

Aside from the fact that it may not even be supported by the storage vendor, you'd usually want the same performance on all paths to the storage.
