Hi there,
actually sDRS sounds like a pretty good feature - but I get a chicken skin when I imagine that my SMVI Snapshotted Virtual Machines (on NFS) are being migrated around our storage systems. Even with the quite static content of our datastores - the delta of the VMs between the snapshots is sometimes so large that the snapreserve (snapshot reserved space within the volume) ran full. Afterwards the snapshots are being written in the active filesystem until this runs full and at the end the story - you can guess - the volume runs offline.
I mean on one hand we have awesome restore possibilities, we save lots of space but we do not anymore if I have to provide 100% of the active file system for Backups - just to consider the case that 100% of the blocks change.
Would be happy to get an answer and some hands on experiences.
Or maybe only opinions :smileyhappy:
Danke and cheers
Timo
