  • 1.  Move VM from VMWare Server 2 to ESXi 5

    What is the best way to move a VM ( running Win 2003 server) from VMware Server 2 running on a Windows 2003 physical server to VMware ESXi 5 running on a separate physical server?

    I'd suggest you use the free VMware Converter for the job.

    I agree with this answer, i have successful have done this countless times with the free vmware-converter. You can also try imaging it with the free opensource Clonezilla: Clonezilla - Downloads

    Thank you all for your prompt replies. I successfully used VMware Converter. I found some articles in a discussion group in VMware community after messing around with this for days so tried it (VMware converter) and it worked like a charm. I guess my biggest problem was identifying VMware Server 2 so I could ask this question.
