  • 1.  Move SQL VM where Vcenter resides

    Looking for a creative solution - the SQL server that Vcenter uses is itself a VM. I need to migrate this VM to a new host and datastore. Sort of a chicken and egg situation. Ideas?

    With vSphere Essentials Plus 5.5 or better/newer you can do this online. The vSphere Web Client allows to migrate both Host and Datastore in a single step.

    The particular issue here is that once I shutdown the SQL VM Vcenter is no longer connected to it's database...

    Why would you want to shutdown the VM?
