Mounting a DVD ISO?

Hi all,

I am using Virtual Center 2.5 and I am attempting to mount a DVD .iso. Specifically it is the latest version of Windows 2008 server. (Downloaded it from Microsoft) When I try to mount the .iso (standard 32 and x64 versions) I get the message "Please Specify a valid image file". The .iso appears to be fine. I can mount it locally on my desktop using an iso mounting program. What is weird is that I have the same o/s versions from Microsoft but they are the release candidates from a few months ago and they mount just fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would try downloading again first. Then, try burning the iso to a dvd, and see if that will read correctly. Typically, ISOs work better than the hard media, so I'm inclined to see that the ISO may be bad, even though you can mount it using some other program.

try shortening the name and make sure the .iso file extension is lower case

THANKS!!!! The .iso or should I say .ISO extension was the key. I changed it to lower case and bam, it worked. Thanks again!

I ran into this exact situation last week, and found that my .iso that I had copied up from my local to shared storage had somehow gotten corrupt. I had to copy again, then it worked fine.... this MAY or MAY NOT solve your situation... but worth a try.
