    Hi,

How can I map a standard com port to a virtual machine. The reason behind this is I will be remoting to a vm that is on an esxi host that has a com port so that I can configure my router.

    Regards!

Do you just need a serial port available on the VM to do this? If yes, you can add a serial port (connect via network) to the virtual machine hardware.

... or do you have the router connected to the host's serial port, and need to enable passthrough for this?

If you're using a rollover cable with usb adaptor you should be able to connect it to your host and have it pass through to the VM, though haven't tried confifguring a router through a VM before!

Is there a reason why it has to be done through a VM?
