    Hello,

I've recently updated VCF Operation and vCenter to 9.1, and seems that now a must is the license appliance.
So I deployed it enabled and activated but I cannot get rid of the old license held by the VCF operation.

I can see from the dashboard now 2 (now 3 because I've added another basket of license vsan and vcf) to the license appliance but seems unable to apply the newest one coming from the license server.

    failed to assign

    Hello

I can relate your issue with below VMware reference articles. It is having similar error messages ""License could not be assigned to the selected vCenter systems".

vCenter license assignment fails with "License could not be assigned to the selected vCenter system"

Unable to assign license to vCenter Server from VCF Operations UI as vCenter System table on license page is empty showing 'No data found'

I think I got it solved by re-deploy the license server and pay extra attention on the network / hostname / domain configuration

In my case I saw hostname doubled on the vm summary, so even if vcf operation was clearly connected to the license appliance the hostname not correctly inserted was the issue.
The point on the ovf deploy is "VM Domain Name" that for my is misleading because it just want that the "domain" is inserted not the full FQDN
